Who We Are
Here in The Narrow Space we pride ourselves in sourcing a wide range of gifts and artwork. Most of what we stock is Irish and we complement it with some quirky European pieces. Each one is unique and in its own way is a statement piece, whether it costs €5 or €500!
You’re very welcome to The Narrow Space. I opened the bricks and mortar business on the pedestrianised Mitchel Street (known locally as ‘the narrow street’) in the lovely town of Clonmel in November 2003 – which makes us over 20 years old! A blow in from Dublin, with a varied background working in theatre, the arts and pr, I came to Clonmel for a short term work contract, met a man and I’m still here all these years later (and we’re married!).
Over the years, the gallery space hosted many great opening nights, with local artists mingling with visiting artists and the many, many art lovers in this great community – with lots of red dots appearing on the walls! Since November 2025, I have taken a step back from curating the gallery space. A new curator and owner of the gallery space, Maire de Leastar, is now running linn gallery and has a wonderful programme lined up. Check out her website http://www.linngallery.ie to find out more.
Our gift shop downstairs is still thriving. It has grown from small beginnings to now showcasing the work of over 80 Irish makers and designers, complemented by a selection of work by interesting international designers and makers. All of this combines to make The Narrow Space a unique and special place. Enjoy meeting this talented selection of designers and makers who comprise The Narrow Space!
